This workshop is a true celebration of one of the most famous local myths and legends. We are thrilled to offer an amazing opportunity for children to unleash their creativity in a textile workshop creating a cuddly ugly buggane - a mini version of an ogre-like creature native to the Isle of Man! for Children age 6+
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Join us for an engaging workshop that delves into Manx folklore while crafting felted Buggane figures. Children will discover the enchanting stories and traits of the Buggane, develop essential wool felting skills, and let their creativity soar.
The workshop kicks off with an introduction to the Buggane, featuring a captivating storytelling session and discussions accompanied by illustrations. Participants will then explore the fundamentals of felting, including materials and techniques.
During the crafting phase, children will bring their Buggane to life by sketching ideas that highlight its distinctive features, forming the shape, and experimenting with different textures. They will enhance their creations by adding details with smaller wool pieces and embellishments.
To wrap up, in the storytelling and sharing segment, children will showcase their creations, promoting appreciation and constructive feedback. Participants will leave with their very own Buggane, enriched knowledge of folklore, and newly acquired artistic skills.
