Join Casey for a three-day guided hiking adventure around the Traveler Loop in Baxter State Park, an exhilarating trek through Maine’s remote northern wilderness. This challenging 10.6-mile loop features over 4,000 feet of elevation gain, making it perfect for experienced hikers looking for stunning scenery and a rugged backcountry experience.
Itinerary:
🔹 Day 1 – June 27: Arrival & Preparation
Meet at South Branch Pond Campground, where you’ll set up camp and review the itinerary with your guide, Casey.
Enjoy an evening by the fire, with an introduction to the region’s unique geology, wildlife, and hiking tips for the journey ahead.
🔹 Day 2 – June 28: The Traveler Loop Hike
Embark on a full-day trek, beginning with an ascent of Peak of the Ridges (3,254 feet) for breathtaking panoramic views.
Continue to The Traveler (3,550 feet), the highest volcanic mountain in Maine, with stunning vistas of Katahdin and the Allagash Wilderness.
Descend over North Traveler Mountain (3,152 feet), navigating rugged terrain and enjoying unparalleled scenery.
Return to camp for a well-earned meal and relaxation.
🔹 Day 3 – June 29: Departure & Optional Activities
Enjoy a leisurely morning with options for a short nature walk, a refreshing swim in South Branch Pond, or wildlife spotting.
Pack up camp and depart with memories of an unforgettable adventure.

✅ Difficulty: Strenuous – best for experienced hikers with good fitness
✅ Terrain: Steep ascents, rocky ridgelines, exposed sections
✅ Wildlife: Moose, black bears, peregrine falcons
✅ Includes: Experienced guide, campsite reservations, safety briefing, morning coffee, camp dinner and beverage after the hike
