𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 and 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜. present the debut concert of John Daniel Rotap. He will be playing the 24 Preludes of Claude Debussy.
The end of the 19th century finds romantic music in decline in favor of impressionism. Composers sought to create an objective perception of the outside world, of scenery and natural elements. Strong emotions which were the core of the Romantic period are now replaced with things that are ethereal, otherworldly and transcendent.
Debussy's set of 24 Preludes does not follow a strict pattern of tonal centers as Chopin's 24 Preludes op. 28 or Bach's 48 Well Tempered Clavier. Debussy uses a more unconventional harmonic pattern to create vignettes of both the physical and mystical worlds.
