This course will focus on building the appropriate skills and knowledge needed to become a certified phlebotomist through classroom learning and hands-on clinical experience at the WVU Parkersburg's Innovation & Technology Center.
Students will gain experience in:
• Proper blood specimen collection
• Venipuncture techniques
• Blood collection safety and procedures
• Preparing for the National Phlebotomy Exam
• And MORE!
Program requirements:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current immunizations and flu shot (estimated cost: $10–$350)
• Criminal background check (estimated cost: $5–$25)
• Three pairs of scrubs (estimated cost: $15–$50 each)
This course is $2,000 per person. Financial assistance is available to West Virginia residents who qualify. Funding and/or a payment plan must be secured by Sept. 23, 2025, two weeks prior to class. A minimum of 7 students is needed to run this course. The course is limited to 20 participants.
The program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 7, 2025 – March 5, 2026, from 6 – 9:30 p.m. at WVU Parkersburg's Innovation & Technology Center.
