Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing Workshop

Note: This is a 2-hour workshop and not a certification course. It is an all-indoor, hands-on presentation.

To paraphrase an old saying, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear. Of course, that applies to winter hiking, but it's just the tip of the iceberg (so to speak).

Hiking in the winter can be just as enjoyable and comfortable as at any other time of year, as long as we consider the differences and make some changes to address them. Before heading out, we need to think about road and parking area conditions, clothing, footwear, traction devices like microspikes and snowshoes, batteries for devices, our vehicle, changes to what we eat and drink, and many other factors, including that we have less room for error in winter conditions.

Join us for a workshop presentation to help prepare you for a winter in the woods, and in so doing, contribute to our local search and rescue team so they are better able to help when called upon.
