This is a five-hour hands-on jewellery workshop held in a comfortable, air-conditioned home studio in Palmwoods, suitable for beginners through to more advanced makers. The workshop is open to adults and teens aged 16 and over.
Suskia is a teacher, and was certified as a Precious Metal Clay Instructor 17 years ago in the UK and has been making jewellery and running workshops on and off for many years. Having recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast, she is excited to share her skills with others who are keen to learn.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to work with fine silver clay, including shaping, refining, filling and fixing, kiln firing, and optional finishing techniques.
The $219 cost includes all equipment needed, fifteen grams of raw fine silver material, and one pair of quality sterling silver ear wires. This amount of material is sufficient to complete one, two, or more pieces, depending on the size and thickness of each piece, and may include pendants and a pair of earrings (or more).
Bezels for pendants can be hand-crafted using the supplied raw material. Any additional findings or stones to embed into pieces can be purchased in the studio on the day.
Your jewellery pieces will be fired in the kiln on site during the 1pm lunch break. Participants who prefer to collect their finished pieces later are welcome to do so at another arranged time.
Those who wish to stay and polish and finish their pieces themselves are welcome to remain on site (please bring your own lunch) or head into Palmwoods town during the break. The polishing and finishing process takes an additional one to two hours after the lunch break.
The workshop is limited to four participants to ensure a relaxed and supportive learning environment.
