To begin our Fall Color Tour journey to our final destination in Bull Valley, IL, we will depart from Jewel Osco (423 E Dundee Rd, Palatine, IL 60074) at 9:30am. From there, we’ll enjoy a 60-to-70-mile drive through the woodlands of Lake and McHenry counties, including stops in Long Grove, Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Barrington, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Cary, Island Lake, and McHenry.
We’ll stay off the major four-lane highways, traveling instead on tree-lined roads that cross the Fox River several times.
We will make a photo stop at the Illinois Iron and Bolt and Star Manufacturing buildings in Carpentersville, IL, now owned and refurbished by OTTO Engineering, located right on the Fox River. The drive will conclude with lunch at NIFE members Michael and Kristen Schmidt’s home in Bull Valley, IL. Lunch will include hot dogs, hamburgers, sides, soda, water, and dessert. The cost is $10.00 per person, payable in cash upon arrival.
This will be a great afternoon to mingle with our Fiero family for the last time during the summer driving season.
If you plan on attending lunch, you must RSVP no later than Tuesday, October 21, 2025 so that the appropriate amount of food and beverage is available. RSVP to NIFE Activity Director Scott Campbell at
