DSFRS's Sports & Social Association have teamed up with Sportiva Events to create the very first DSFRS Multi Sport Championships.
The championships will be open to all service staff and SSA members, and include events such as, an individual 5km run, a team sprint triathlon relay and an individual sprint triathlon with all 3 events will be held at the Torbay Leisure Centre & Velopark over the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April.
An events page has been set up on Sportiva Events website (see link below), where you will be able to access all the information regarding the championships/individual events, as well as processing all of your entries. Please note if entering the individual sprint triathlon, you MUST state that you are from DSFRS Tri Club as this event will be run in conjunction with Sportivas own event.

This will be a great opportunity for all staff and SSA sections to come together, get active whilst being just a little bit competitive. This will also give the SSA the opportunity to advertise themselves to anyone new within the service, and promote all that the SSA has to offer regarding membership. The venue provides the perfect location to host such an event for both participants and spectators with everything all close by, and both the cycle and run sections being on closed roads.
For each event, Sportiva will be putting on a podium style award ceremony for the following categories, where winners will receive prizes, medals and a trophy.
Individual 5km Run - 1st , 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female
Individual Sprint Triathlon -1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female
Team Triathlon Relay - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Overall
For the Team Triathlon Relay, teams will consist of 3 members (male, female or mixed) who will each complete one discipline each within the triathlon. We will not be too fussy on how you go about picking team members however, it would be nice if we could keep this to either watches, stations or departments.
The SSA will be supporting this event as much as possible, and have already agreed to fund the cost of our own personnel podium backdrop and the individual trophies. In addition to this, the SSA may be able to offer anyone or team(s) entering a percentage (entry number dependant) of their entry fees back as a race refund.
Even if you do not fancy taking part, we will be looking for additional volunteers to help out on both days with duties such as marshalling etc. And if you unfortunately can't make it this year, if successful, we will be looking to hold this event annually.
