In The Shallows + Michelle Velvin on harp are getting together for an afternoon concert with local talent Steph Casey and the incredible Kapiti choir - Beachside Harmony, led by the very talented Bridget O'Shanassy; who has scored harmonies for the choir to join In The Shallows on a few of the songs from their upcoming album, alongside the magical sound of the harp.
Led by the captivating voice of Welsh songwriter Danni Davis, and with nearly 100 shows nationwide under her belt, her band 'In The Shallows' will be offering up their lush, harmony-drenched indie-folk-pop, with a little bit of rock and a little bit of reggae in at their hometown venue, at St Peters Hall, Paekakariki this October, where they will also be previewing tracks from the up coming album out at the end of the year.
With a string of 5-star reviews, a ‘Top 10 Live Show’ nod from Muzic.net.nz, and a forthcoming album produced by Steve Rokosh (Emmylou Harris), this is a rare chance to catch the full band live. Read their latest review from the last show of their tour at Paisley stage linked below. The album release show will be performed with strings and harp at Spark Arenas 'The Tuning Fork', in Auckland - so don't miss out a chance to get a special preview of their show with the choir!
Expect emotionally-charged songs, soaring harmonies, and a dynamic, festival-ready set featuring Michelle Velvin on Harp (Wellington Orchestra NZSO,). Check out the live video of 'Not The One' recorded at St Peters hall in Oct last year, linked below.
The afternoon will begin with Steph Casey playing original music from her debut album that charted in the NZ top ten and she released her second album to glowing international reviews. Her songs are primarily indie-folk/americana in genre, with her most recent work embracing more grit and distorted guitar, as her sound evolves. Her songs have over half a million plays across platforms, and were licensed for the award-winning feature film ‘Poppy’. She has featured on TV3’s The Cafe, in Next magazine, and on RNZ’s NZ Live. “This second album by the acclaimed indie-folk singer Steph Casey confirms a strong and unique talent.” – Graham Reid, NZ Herald
A vibrant and inclusive Barbershop Chorus on the Kapiti Coast, Beachside Harmony will also perform prior to In The Shallows joining them and finishing off the evening with their summer festival ready set of new tracks from the upcoming album.
Due to Danni having struggled with Laryngitis and vocal nodules through their winter tour, which resulted in a complete loss of her voice, the band had to postpone their flagship show at The Tuning Fork in July at the last minute, this resulted in a huge financial loss and in order to get the band back for the rescheduled show, the lovely music community of Kapiti are rallying together to help raise the funds - huge thank you to all those who are contributing and to those of you who join us!
