We prepare ourselves to jump, cross, push, pull, avoid, embrace, and suspend one another in the first @sharedlevitation partnering workshop in Oulu, Finland on 13.+14.03.
Berlin-based dancers Marion Sparber (IT) and Alan Fuentes Guerra (MX) co-founded the platform Shared Levitation Partnering in 2017. Through this platform, Alan and Marion have developed international productions, presented stage works and taught over 250 Workshops all over the world, now coming to Oulu, Finland!
Focusing on an organic way of partnering, based on principles of action and reaction inspired by martial arts, contact improvisation, contemporary dance, soft partner-acrobatics, social dancing and other forms of dancing with a partner. Approaching movement from a perspective of deep connection, aiming to avoid the superficial habit of copying shapes and encouraging each pair to find a unique way of communicating and to seek individual solutions and variations within the choreographic material.
We constantly change roles between base/flyer and leader/follower and learn how much resistance, strength, and direction are needed to reach our fullest potential as a partnership by exploring the given guidelines. We conclude each class by learning choreographic material from our duets “Porzellan Haus” (Porcelain House) and “Seelengrund” (Foundations of the Soul).
Many of Marion’s choreographies combine highly physical dance with dance theatre, live music, video, and photographic projections, playfully incorporating acrobatic and circus-inspired elements.
