Did you know?
• Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue that can lead to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse.
• Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold. Unused drugs that are flushed can contaminate the water supply.
• The majority of teenagers abusing prescription drugs get them from family and friends—and in the home medicine cabinet.
As autumn arrives, it's the perfect time to tidy up your medicine cabinet! On October 25th, from 10am to 2pm, properly dispose of your unneeded Rx meds.
Please bring medications in their original containers. You can choose to open and dump the medication or dispose of it in their containers (please remove any identifying information on the outside of the container).
Please do not give us the following:
• Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers.
• Intra-venous solutions, injectables, inhalers, syringes, chemotherapy medications, vaping devices that have batteries that cannot be removed, or medical waste will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens
• No department evidence or illegal drugs • Thermometers (Mercury)
• Oxygen Containers
• Pressurized Canisters
