Westchester Collaborative Theater (GPS 21 Water St.)
23 Water Street, Ossining, United States
From Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 15, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will debut the mainstage production premiere of Gladys Day, a full-length play written by WCT members Misha T. Sinclair and Jessica W. Bonds and directed by WCT director/actor Roberta Robinson of Somers. Sinclair is the author of numerous full-length and short plays and monologues including WCT’s much-lauded December 2023 production, Eden’s Echo, and The Execution of Helen Fowler that had a sellout run at Bethany Arts Community in Ossining this spring. Bonds wrote and performed selections from her writings for WCT’s That’s Not All She Wrote III this summer. Gladys Day had a well-attended staged reading as part of WCT’s Play in the Box series in April.
John Pielmeier, prolific playwright and actor best known for his multiple award-winning play Agnes of God seen on Broadway and later made into an Oscar-nominated film starring Jane Fonda and Anne Bancroft, said of Gladys Day, “This piece is fabulous! All the elements are here!”
Gladys Day stars Jessica W. Bonds in the compelling story of a woman living in the South Side of Chicago who is overwhelmed by a crumbling marriage and financial worries and finds solace and strength through her spoken word writing and performances. Old relationships are severed and new ties form in Gladys’ journey to self-discovery. Bonds studied with the Howard Meyer Acting Program and has appeared in numerous productions at WCT, Axial Theatre and Bethany Arts Community.
Gladys Day features actors Jessica Bonds (Yonkers), Mako San (the Bronx), Jason Brown (Harrison), Chasity Vargas (Ossining), Sergio Arguelles Catare (Stamford, CT) and Adam Black (Tarrytown). Allison Schneider (Nyack) is the stage manager.
“We are proud to launch Gladys Day, knowing that it is headed for a far-ranging future. The enthusiastic reaction of our audiences to its well-attended staged reading made us realize that it was ripe for a fully staged production. For 15 years, WCT has been committed to advancing new work for the stage. This play represents another effort in our goal to incubate new plays of merit.” says WCT Executive Director Alan Lutwin.
Gladys Day will run on Fridays, December 6 and 13 at 8 pm, Saturdays, December 7 and 14 at 2pm & 8 pm and Sundays, December 8 and 15 at 3pm. There will be a talkback with the production team following the Saturday, December 7 matinee performance. Tickets: $30; $25 for students, senior citizens and WCT members.
