As the world grapples with the escalating climate crisis, emerging research highlights a pivotal yet often overlooked factor in achieving true climate justice โ the impact of ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ก๐ข๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง on ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง of our rainforests. ๐ณ
๐ค We will feature a keynote talk by ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐จ๐๐ฌ, a former undercover police officer from the U.K., who has become a prominent writer and international activist for drug law reform.
The event will also feature an ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ฅ in the fields of environmental science, drug policy reform, and social justice.
Together we will explore how the shadow economy generated by drug prohibition fuels extractivist activities that lead to deforestation and forest degradation. We will delve into how the illegal coca economy not only exacerbates environmental degradation but also undermines ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ.
