About the event

Panel Discussion - Fluid, Free, and Human: A Conversation on the Gender Spectrum
Doors open from 17:30, please arrive before 17:50

What does it mean to discover and express our gender in ways that feel most true to us? For some, it’s about embracing their identity as a woman or a man. For others, it’s about finding freedom in living beyond or between those categories.

In this intimate panel conversation, our guests will share personal journeys with gender, from the experience of being a trans woman, to living as nonbinary, to exploring and questioning identity before deciding what feels right. Together, we’ll talk about the fluidity of gender, and how exploring it can open new ways of seeing ourselves and others.

This is a warm and open space for curiosity, listening, and connection. Everyone is welcome, whether you are questioning, seeking understanding, or simply curious.

Guests

Robin is a designer, writer and artist from the Netherlands, living and working and generally hanging out in Oslo. She used to run a queer non-denominational church service from her living room, and was the head of design for Oslo Pride for several years.

She’s a loud and proud transsexual lesbian, and is always looking for ways to design things, make art, or tell stories that embody queerness, optimism, defiance, playfulness, and a stubborn insistence that everything is for everyone.

Aura are bi, non-binary, and exploring polyamory. Raised in the Mormon church, they had to break away from the institution and cut off harmful family relationships before they could safely explore their queer identity.

They came out as non-binary in 2020 and have since grown more secure and nuanced in their identity. They continue to explore themselves and make a point of being visibly genderqueer, to fight stigma, inspire others, and allow themselves to live with joy. Despite the challenges, the experience has been deeply fulfilling.

Nina is interested in the social and political sides of gender, how society tries to shape us with prejudices. She’s asked herself ‘what is my gender?’ off and on, and remains undecided. They also tried different pronouns and gender ideas, but they haven’t stuck, perhaps because they don’t really care. But others do, and their perception of her is why it matters regardless.

Host

Ioana is currently pursuing a master’s degree in neuroscience, with research focused on bi+ mental health. She takes pride in embracing the complexities of her identity and has found a supportive community that sees and accepts her as she is. Through this panel, Ioana hopes to expand that circle, inviting others who long to be seen and are just as willing to truly see her.
