What hidden beauty lies in works that have always existed, yet remained unheard until they are finally noticed? How can such music be rediscovered, nurtured, and shared so the world, too, can listen?
Clarinettist Madara Eleonora Mežale and pianist Damiën Heemskerk are collaborating to explore small-scale chamber works for clarinet and piano that bridge music from late Romanticism into the 21st Century, showing us how the composers navigated the cultural aftermath of wars and the search for identity in post-war Europe.
On the 20th of October, Madara Eleonora and Damiën will be presenting their first recital, where they will perform works that share a deeply expressive musical language that reflects the spiritual and philosophical themes that embody the complex emotional and cultural changes of their time.
Program consists of works by Francis Poulenc, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Alban Berg, Valentyn Silvestrov and a trio by Galina Ustvolskaya, where they will be joined by violinist Karl Jõgi.

Where: Levinsalen, The Norwegian Academy of Music
