Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is an international community service organization founded on January 16, 1920 at Howard University in Washington D.C. by five women under the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. Our motto is to be a “Community Conscious, Action-Oriented Organization” that focuses on the betterment of the community. Since its inception, the Sorority has expanded to encompass more than 500+ graduate and collegiate chapters. In years of service, the trail blazed by the founders has been traversed by thousands of women dedicated to the objectives and ideals of the sorority. The local graduate chapter, Pi Alpha Zeta, has been serving Portland since 1995 and is composed of graduate members of the Sorority who have received their degrees from various colleges and universities. Pi Alpha Zeta Chapter was chartered on January 4, 1995 and has continued to have unwavering dedication to service and the enhancement of the Portland Metro Area. Our goals are accomplished through programming and service which provide knowledge, awareness, and man-hours to various causes.
