Meditation and sound healing is best experienced firsthand in order to understand what it is and its benefits. Meditation is a mind-body practice using breath to train attention and awareness in the present moment to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally stable state. Sound is healing—it’s been used for centuries to treat disease and emotional ailments across many cultures. Meditation has a variety of health benefits and may help people improve the quality of their lives. I am a student of Duke Health and Wellness who teaches meditation or mindfulness techniques, Duke Health provides meditative space for patients and families because the benefits include managing anxiety, stress, depression, pain, or even symptoms related to withdrawal from nicotine, alcohol, or opioids. The Academy of Sound Healing is based in the United Kingdom and is one of the first and most prominent research institutions for sound healing. They have found that sounds can be used for: Treating depression, stress, and anxiety Improving immune system functioning Benefitting cancer patients Stimulating circulation Reducing inflammation Increasing bone density in osteoporosis patients Healing wounds faster As a Sound Healer and Meditation Teacher, I know and see the positive changes in peoples' lives on a daily basis. It is always my intention to create and hold a nurturing and compassionate space.
