Prince George's County (MD) Chapter, The Links Inc

The Prince George's County (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered on March 24, 1979. Among its most celebrated educational initiatives, the “What’s Up Doc Program” at Walker Mill Middle School introduced students to health careers through hands-on lessons in anatomy, nutrition, science, and safety, culminating in a “White Coat Ceremony.” This program received 1st Place for Best Practices in Services to Youth at the 40th National Assembly in 2016. Similarly, the chapter’s “Classics Through the Ages: Mentoring Through the Arts” program brought expert musicians to work directly with students, enhancing their skills in instrumental, vocal, and dance arts. It earned 3rd Place for Best Practices in The Arts at the same assembly. In 2025, the Chapter received a momentous award during the 48th Eastern Area Conference for its collaboration in the “Link Up the Vote: DM(V)oter Engagement” Program.Additional community services included support to residents at the Belnor Senior Residences in Suitland, MD providing canned goods, social activities, books clubs, and other educational opportunities to the residents. To fund these impactful efforts, the chapter has hosted successful fundraising events such as Links on the Links Golf Tournament, the Emeralds and Diamonds Brunch, and An Emeralds & Diamonds Affair. The chapter has awarded over $290,000 in scholarships to high school and college students.Since its inception, a number of goal-oriented, talented, creative, compassionate, resourceful, and accomplished women have become members. These women, collectively, linked in friendship, have helped improve the quality of programming and have helped to take the Chapter’s services to a higher level of excellence.
