Planning & Development RegionFounded in 1968, the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region Commission (WUPPDR) is a state designated planning region and federal economic development district with a mission to foster stable and diversified economies in the Western U.P. WUPPDR provides a wide variety of community and economic development programs and services to Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. This work is done on a by-contract basis with local township, village, city, county, and tribal governments.
