Follow Welsh Automotive ForumThe Welsh Automotive Forum (WAF) has been Wales’ automotive manufacturing sector trade association for more than 20 years.WAF has built on its core foundations of being the authoritative ‘Voice’ of the automotive sector in Wales, representing its members, listening to its issues, challenges and opportunities, as well as promoting the industry whilst working closely with Welsh Government and academia to support the sector and its associated supply chains.The industry in Wales consists of 2 niche vehicle makers, over 20 Tier 1s many with a multinational presence, a high-class OEM Engine Plant, with a further 100 + companies in the service and supply chain, many of which are small and medium enterprises. In total some 10,500 highly skilled and much respected employees support the sector in Wales with other jobs being generated by the multiplier effect.The Welsh Automotive Forum of over 130 companies, estimates its membership generates in the region of over £1bn to the Welsh economy.The Automotive landscape is changing rapidly with the sale of new petrol and diesel cars to end in 2030.The WAF continues to support its ‘traditional’ manufacturers, promoting competitiveness and the adaption of with new and innovative processes and technological improvements, whilst at the same time expanding its foothold within the emerging area of Green Mobility
