Follow Weightlifting IrelandWeightlifting Ireland (WI) – the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of weightlifting across the 32 counties of the island of Ireland, recognised as such by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media through Sport Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland. We are recognised at world level by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), and at European level by the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF).We exist to encourage participation, develop excellence and regulate our sport across the 32 counties of the island of Ireland.Weightlifting Ireland is an athlete-centred organisation, committed to the promotion of all forms of Olympic Weightlifting in Ireland. Our brief spans participation events, at all levels and ages, including underage, senior and masters, with athlete welfare as a primary concern.
