Toronto Tango Academy is founded by Tugrul Avci, a tango enthusiast who has been teaching, DJ-ing, and organizing events in Istanbul and Toronto. His tango journey began in 2010 and his approach to dancing and teaching is inspired by great teachers including but not limited to Alejandra Mantiñan, Sebastian Achaval & Roxana Suarez, Facundo Piñero & Vanesa Villalba, Silvina Valz, Ozhan Araz, Sercan Yigit & Zeynep Aktar. Tugrul hopes to nurture and encourage tango excellence in the Toronto tango community through regular classes and special workshops by invited Maestros. He teaches with Aybike Eskin Gurcan, a fellow tango enthusiast who has been dancing since 2008.
