The San Mateo Public Library is known by many as "the community's living room". A state-of-the-art resource center for literacy and lifelong learning, the Library features 100 public internet terminals, expanded areas for children and teens, and a sustainable, energy efficient design. In addition to an impressive collection of books, music, and other media, the Library also offers free literacy programs for children, adults, and families, as well as other essential services. The San Mateo Public Library Foundation was founded in 1994 to raise funds to support the vital programs and services of the San Mateo Public Library. It creates a margin of excellence for our Library by building private support, enhancing visibility for the Library’s impact, and strengthening the public’s commitment to a great Library.
