About The Path Less Taken Outdoor Experiences & Environmental Education

The Path Less Taken . . .  Aims through outdoor experiences and environmental education to connect you to your local land and to develop an understanding of your environment.  The Path Less Taken’s goal is to build environmental understanding and eco-literacy whether you are a student, teacher, or the general public and to inspire stewardship of local ecology and ecosystems. Whether in the field or in the classroom The Path Less Taken also seeks to help individuals develop their outdoor skills and competencies so to safely recreate and navigate through their natural world.  The benefit of outdoor experiences not only builds skill competency but also provides opportunity for challenge, resilience, leadership development and personal exploration.   Let others take the route well travelled.  By taking The Path Less Taken, you can develop a deeper connection and understanding of your natural world and oneself.  It will make all the difference.  Your Guide: Leith Monaghan is certified as a Professional Interpreter with the Interpretive Guides Association and an Apprentice Hiking Guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides.  As a proponent and believer in outdoor education, she has worked with youth in the outdoors with organizations such as YMCA Camp Chief Hector, University of Calgary Outdoor Centre, Outward Bound, RiverWatch, Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society and Alberta Parks.  Additionally, she has nine years as a classroom teacher teaching Grade 2, 6, and 9.  She enjoys sharing her love of the nature and the mountains working with both children and adults.
