Steve Brogden has been presenting intimate concerts in the Thousand Oaks community for since 2008. During his fourteen-year stint as the director of the Thousand Oaks Library (2000 – 2014) he developed the “Live at the Library” concert series to great acclaim. More recently he has produced concerts at Larry Janss’ Four Friends Gallery for the past three and a half years.Steve knows the world of small concert presentation from both sides of the equation. He is intimately familiar with this often tumultuous industry from the musicians’ perspective as well as that of the producer. Steve was the tour manager for a popular western/folk ensemble in the mid-1970s, spending three years “on the road” with them. That, and many other similar experiences, provided Steve with an insight into the musician’s life on the road.Those years formed Steve’s abiding philosophy in booking these traveling minstrels, which is to afford them the highest compensation possible within the confines of a budget; the kindest backstage treatment and, most importantly, the respect they deserve. In turn, Steve’s generous philosophy and practices have earned him the respect and trust of traveling musicians.
