I started Blue Shed Urban Gardens in 2021 in an effort to get folks excited about growing food for themselves and the greater community. I have 8 covered raised beds on my property in Wash Park and have grown over 1600 lbs of food in the last 2 years. Over half of those pounds were donated to Metro Caring, Huerta Urbana, Bienvenidos Food Bank, Clayton Cares Food Market, South High School Giving Grocery, SAME Cafe and Cafe 180. I also manage the South High School Garden and, in collaboration with Grow Local CO and Craig Hospital's Horticulture Therapy program, we have grown over 1,000 lbs of food for the school's students and families. I worked with DPS's Garden of Youth Job Skill Development Program this past summer and continue weekly garden meetings with South students in the unified classroom during the school year. I am committed to finding ways to get healthy food in the hands and mouths of all people and love creating community in the garden.
