Sombrilla International Development Society

Sombrilla International Development Society (www.sombrilla.ca) is an independent Civil Society Organization (CSO) based in Edmonton. We are non-denominational and non-partisan. The organization was incorporated in 1987 and is a registered charity with the Government of Canada. Sombrilla develops partnerships with Latin American CSO's that share our values, in order to assist them in their development. Our focus is on providing assistance that is result oriented and sustainable. We presently have projects in Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras with a focus on community development, education, food security, women's health and sustainable economic development.   Sombrilla’s Mission is to empower the marginalized communities and people in Latin America so that they may assert their economic, political, environmental, cultural, and social rights; which enables them to improve the conditions and quality of their life in a just and sustainable manner.
