Follow Shanny's Fun RunShantel Louise Fugere Information Systems Tech Petty Officer, 3rd Class December 22, 1994 - July 8, 2015 Shanny loved sports from an early age. There was T-ball into softball, then basketball in grade school. When she entered Trask Mountain Middle School, she added volleyball and track & field to the list. This was also when she discovered that coffee was the solution to all of the world’s woes! This caused many sleepless nights thanks to much caffeine. High school same with a healthier diet and the addition of crunches, push-ups and running every chance she got - in addition to track and cross country. She was eager to get her first job and by the end of Junior year had two jobs and a driver’s license. The summer before her Senior year she made the decision to join the Navy and thus the adventures into leaving home began. She chose to be an Information Systems Tech and eventually earned the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. Shanny was home on leave from the Navy when she was killed in an auto crash. The Carlton Community Foundation, along with Carlton Fun Days, decided to rename and repurpose the "Fun Run" to "Shanny's Run" to honor the legacy of this beautiful soul in our community. All proceeds from Shanny's Run go towards helping the community. We want to continue Shanny's love for running in the hearts of our community runners. Thank you.
