About Shammond Williams

Shammond Williams is a former NBA and international basketball standout, and now an accomplished collegiate coach. A proud alum of the University of North Carolina, Williams played under legendary coaches Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge from 1994 to 1998. During his time with the Tar Heels, he helped lead the team to three Final Four appearances and graduated holding multiple school records, including most career three-pointers (233) and the highest free throw percentage in a season (.911).Selected 34th overall in the 1998 NBA Draft, Williams played eight seasons in the NBA with teams including the Seattle SuperSonics, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 5.8 points and 2.4 assists per game. His professional career also flourished overseas, where he played for elite European clubs like FC Barcelona and Montepaschi Siena—winning championships and competing in the EuroLeague Final Four. Williams also holds dual citizenship and represented the Republic of Georgia internationally.After retiring from professional play, Williams transitioned to coaching, bringing his leadership and elite experience to the sidelines. He has served as an assistant coach at Furman, Tulane, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, and most recently, the University of Denver. Known for his basketball IQ, player development expertise, and deep ties to the game, Williams continues to shape the next generation of athletes.
