Follow Sergio RamirezSergio Ramirez is a multifaceted guitarist and bandleader hailing from the Bronx in New York City. He has graced renowned stages across the country, performing with Grammy-winning ensembles including The Villalobos Brothers at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, SFJazz, Symphony Space, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center’s inaugural “Refuge” concert series at the World Trade Center. He also appeared at Lincoln Center’s internationally acclaimed GlobalFEST 2024 world music festival. Sergio has recorded and shared the spotlight with Grammy Award-winning Arturo O’Farrill and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra at St. Ann's Warehouse as well as on Virtual Birdland’s ShapeShifter Sessions, and was featured on O’Farrill’s 2025 album Mundoagua: Celebrating Carla Bley.As a bandleader, he directs his trio and quartet, performing standards, Latin jazz, and original compositions, delivering immersive, versatile, and dynamic live performances. Drawing from his Mexican-American heritage, classical training, and jazz improvisation, Sergio creates performances that are both technically precise and deeply expressive.Sergio has also performed under Jon Faddis, Michael Philip Mossman, and David Dejesus in large ensembles at leading jazz venues including Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Birdland, and The Jazz Forum. His musical journey reflects an unwavering dedication to artistic excellence, seamlessly blending classical precision, jazz improvisation, Latin rhythms, and funk to create performances that are engaging, immersive, and memorable.
