Welcome to the #universityonthebeach! SAMS is a world class scientific research centre and Scotland's premier independent marine research organisation. We have taught an undergraduate marine science degree programme for over a decade and currently deliver the following degree programmes through the University of the Highlands and Islands:BSc (Hons) Marine ScienceBSc (Hons) Marine Science with Arctic StudiesBSc (Hons) Marine Science with Oceanography & Robotics Our campus is right on the beach of a stunning peninsula on the iconic and diverse west coast of Scotland. Next door is a 13th century castle on one side and the European Marine Science Park with various companies on the other. It's a great place to learn about the sea, live the outdoor lifestyle and build professional connections and friendships within the marine science community.The four-year course is Scotland's only multidisciplinary course in marine science, integrating the studies of marine biology, physical and chemical oceanography and marine geology and leading to a rounded understanding of the marine system. Students also gain a diverse range of numerical, technical, analytical, field sampling, time management and communication skills which make them highly employable.
