Follow Scholastic Talent Inc.HISTORYScholastic Talent Showcase began as a grass roots movement in 2013 and was the brainchild of Dwayne Bass, an ACCS music instructor. Noticing that many students in the region lacked access to quality performing arts programs such as the one he developed and lead at ACCS, he founded the showcase to locate, feature, and nurture latent talent in vocal and among the underserved. The initial showcase was an overwhelming success.Since that first year, Scholastic performers have commanded stages throughout the region including the Empire State Convention Center, on the main stage at the Black Arts and Cultural Family Day sponsored by the New York State Department of General Service, and on a compilation album of their original works. Our program has been endorsed by the New York Department of Education and bolstered by financial support from organizations such as the CharlesTouheyFamily Foundation and practical support from industry professionals with companies such as Viacom Media.None of this would be possible without a team of individuals with extensive personal and professional experience in the arts, youth development, and organizational leadership.Meet the team bringing to life Scholastic’s mission toprovide accessible opportunities for Capital Region students to showcase, support, and develop their talents in the performing arts.
