Chef Sarah Shanks has 35 years of culinary experience in teaching, banquet catering, corporate restaurants and fine dining. Chef Shanks began her culinary career as a teenager working in a hometown deli. Many years later, and always staying dedicated to the culinary craft, she became a member of one of east Tennessee's finest dining establishments at Cherokee Country Club. In 2017, a culinary dream came true when she began the culinary program at Morgan County Career and Technical Center for high school student, building a commercial kitchen out of a former math and science classroom. In 2022, Chef Shanks began the only TCAT culinary program in the state of Tennessee. Since these program conception, many honors and awards have been achieved including state winners at Junior Chef and other competitions.
