The Sanctuary at the Burrow (Church of the Burrow) is led by a team of dedicated individuals who tend to this land through their personal obligations to life and death. With the shared resources of heart2heartnc and many others in our community, each burial is serviced with vital behind-the-scenes support.The purpose of the Church of the Burrow is the perpetual care and maintenance of the cemetery at 4479 Moncure Pittsboro Road and a place of devotion for practicing our mutually held spiritual beliefs. The Church will be ecumenical in nature, all embracing, all inclusive, of any faith or belief systems and paradigms. We provide holistic ministry services for death, dying and renewal through tending to the body, soul and spirit. The purpose of the cemetery is to serve as a place for conservation burial, that is, intering the dead to protect the existing natural environment. To that end, it is a place that allows only “natural” materials such as cloth, wood and stone. Embalming fluids, stainless steel coffins, plastics and pressure treated materials are expressly forbidden without prior consent of the Board of Directors.We hold services and an annual event, the Death Faire every November to help our community heal.
