SAKE COMPETITION is the world’s only competition dedicated solely to sake. Since its launch in 2012, it has grown in scale with each passing year, driving trends in the sake industry and contributing to the improvement of sake quality. The 8th edition, held in 2019, became the world’s largest sake competition with a record 1,919 entries.Despite the global sake boom in recent years, many people still find sake difficult to understand. The core mission of this competition is to provide a new standard that helps consumers discover truly delicious sake, regardless of brand reputation. To achieve this, a large number of sake entries must be judged under consistent conditions by the same panel.After nearly 20 years of trial and error since its predecessor, the tasting event, the competition has adopted a strict blind tasting format. Judges include respected technical advisors, sake brewers nominated by them, and industry experts. Both preliminary and final rounds are conducted blind, with entries shuffled randomly by computer to ensure impartiality.Based on the results, the top 10 entries in each category are awarded GOLD rankings with placement, while the top 10% below gold receive SILVER, and the next 20% receive BRONZE.Instageram : @sake_competition
