Royal Holloway Department of Music

The Department of Music at Royal Holloway University of London have a long history of providing the College and the wider community with an annual, world-class Concert Series, featuring some of the finest performers from the UK and oversees and showcasing our talented students and staff.  The Department of Music are currently ranked 3rd amongst UK Music departments (in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework). We were top in the previous assessment exercise (2008) and awarded the highest grade of 5* in the two prior to that (2001 and 1996).  We were also recently placed 4th best UK Music department in the 2015 Complete University Guide, which takes into account student experience, research excellence and graduate prospects. We are currently the only university arts and humanities department in the UK to receive one of just twelve prestigious Regius Professorships, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2013. This means our students benefit from research-led teaching where expertise offers cutting-edge approaches and encompasses a diversity of genres, historical periods and global contexts and much more.
