About Rita's Ripple Effects

Rita Harris is one of the Associate Ministers at New Mount Zion Baptist Church and a Master of Arts candidate in Biblical Studies at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Midway University in 2019 and retired from the U.S. Army in 2018 after serving her country with honor for 28 years. As a devoted wife and mother of five, Rita brings both academic insight and hands-on compassion to her ministry and community work. For more than five years, Rita has co-led the Prayer Ministry at New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Ky, creating sacred spaces where women experience vulnerability, intercession, and encouragement. Since 2014, she has also served as a Level 1 Sexual Assault Advocate, offering trauma-informed care and unwavering support. Her mission is to reframe menopause as a season of empowerment, equipping women with grounding tools, emotional insight, and—most importantly—Battle Buddy partnerships that keep them connected and sane through life’s shifts.Rita’s own perimenopausal journey was anything but gentle. Strained relationships, unexplained rage, and a deep sense of isolation led her to seek professional help, where she discovered and began to manage perimenopausal rage. Therapy taught her to recognize triggers, practice self-care, and restore peace in her family. Holy Hormones—“A Day of Real Talk, Real Shifts, and Spiritual Shine”—is her first large-scale gathering, drawing on scriptural anchors (Isaiah 43:19; Ecclesiastes 3:1; Proverbs 31:25; 2 Corinthians 4:16) to guide every session. Under Rita’s leadership, attendees leave not only better informed but deeply renewed in sisterhood, faith, and purpose.
