Pyle Library is a vibrant, versatile space. It has a great selection of books for all ages, free WiFi, a number of computers available for public use, a selection of newspapers and magazines, and a photocopier/printer/scanner that staff can help you to get the best use out of. We have a wide range of activities for adults and children, a list of which can be found below! As well as these fantastic library services, Pyle Library also has rooms within Pyle Life Centre that you can book for meetings, training sessions and fitness classes. Regular Activities: Mondays Tea & ICT, 2-4pm Our tech-friendly librarians will help you navigate your tablet, phone or laptop, give you advice on online safety, shopping or price comparison websites, help you make flyers, write letters, fill out a CV or job application using Microsoft Office packages, and much more! Cuppa with a Cupper, 2-3pm Pop in for a chat with a local PCSO for advice on local issues. Tuesdays Junior Reading Group, 5-6pm Held on the last Tuesday of every month, this fun, informal group will get your children excited about reading and expanding their reading choices. A great way to enhance their reader development! Age guide: 7-11 years Wednesdays Lego Club, 4-5pm An informal play session where the children can use their imaginations to make their own creations with our lego, whilst making new friends. Age guide: 5+ years (Duplo is available for younger children) Thursdays Afternoon Tiers Reading Group, 2:30-3:30pm The last Thursday of every month, this fun, sassy, chatty group meets for an enthusiastic book discussion! Tea, Coffee and biccies provided by the library. Nightowls Reading Group, 7-8pm The third Thursday of every month, this is a chance for those busy in the day time to enjoy an evening away from the house that doesn’t cost a penny! Join for a good discussion of the books, and a warm cuppa and biscuits. Fridays Memory Lane Cafe, 9:30am-12pm Are you looking after someone who is very forgetful or has been diagnosed with dementia? Drop in for a chat and a cuppa with our friendly volunteers. There will be a host activities which include historical photograph sharing, crafts, board games and even some tai chi! Bounce and Rhyme, 10-10:30am We’d love to welcome your bouncing babies and tumbling toddlers along to this action-packed session of songs, rhymes and silliness. A great way to meet other parents and carers. We’ll make you a warm cuppa too! Age guide: 0-3 years Saturdays Story time and Craft, 10:30-11:30am Start your Saturday with a story and craft session here at Pyle Library! It’s fun, messy and perfect for children small and tall! Age guide: 4-8 years Please note: Age guides are recommended ages for taking part in children’s activities. All children taking part in activities at the library must be supervised by an adult, unless otherwise stated.
