Home isn’t a place. It’s a feeling. A feeing of camaraderie, of family, of creative fellowship. Here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, my daily life consists of the feeling of “home”. Every day I’m surrounded by artists, musicians, film directors, designers, models, and the like. Each one trying to expand their feeling of home to encompass not just this small city, but the world of creativity. This International Fashion Experience is built to showcase the feeling of home. A home built upon art, and freedom. The film previews being shown, the designs being showcased, the music being performed, will each highlight what “home” feels like to me. This "Home" of Baton Rouge creativity is widely disregarded. Baton Rouge, and Louisiana as a whole, is often thought of as one of the poorest areas in the country. The schools in Louisiana are regarded as some of the worst institutions for higher learning. We aim to change that narrative. Coming out of these same schools, and growing up from these same Baton Rouge communities, are some of the brightest young minds the world has ever seen. The art and creativity put on display is full of tales of community and upbringing from our past, and dreams of family and prosperity in the near future. This Fashion Experience aims to act as a stepping stool, and showcase all of Baton Rouge's passionate artistic expression to the world via creative mediums such as dance, modeling, music, clothing and so much more. It is a culmination of all of Baton Rouge's best work and dedication to Art. To Passion. To Community. To Family.
