OUP Orchestra, founded in 2017, is a high quality non-professional ensemble for staff members and students of the University of Oxford, Oxford University Hospitals, and Oxford University Press. We rehearse for three terms per year, each culminating in a performance at a local venue in Oxford. Rehearsals are once a week, on Wednesday from 5:15-7:15. Our repertoire consists of classical music from a variety of eras (our concerts thus far have included Beethoven, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Mozart, Elgar, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, and Rossini). Because of the music we play, approximate requirements in terms of playing standard are: Strings: Grade 7+ Woodwind: Grade 7+ Brass: Grade 5+ However these are approximate, and enquiries from all musicians who are interested in joining are very welcome. No audition is necessary. The orchestra has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and players are free to come along and try it out before deciding to stay.
