Follow North Suffolk Circle Of The King's DaughtersFor the past 25 years, the North Suffolk Circle of the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) has been raising money to benefit the CHKD. The circle meets every 2nd Tuesday of each month with the exception of July and August; we take a break for the summer during these two months. As a volunteer, our commitment is only 15 hours per year, which can be accumulated at home or on special projects and events. Our North Suffolk Circle was founded in 1987. The circle meets at the Berea Church located in the Driver community of Suffolk, Virginia. We have raised money, and have sponsored many events to benefit the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. Some on-going projects include: • We make and stuff small bears, which are given to each child that is a patient at the hospital. • We distribute donation canisters to local businesses to raise funds for CHKD; each month we collect the donations from the canisters. • We help to create and we host the Let’s Make A Scarecrow event at the McDonald’s Garden Center on Portsmouth Boulevard. • We sell hotdogs and drinks at Driver’s Days. • We host fundraising Bunco nights in Driver. • We are currently working on a cookbook, which will include our recipes and those from family members and friends. The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters relies on its friends in the community to help ensure that the hospital is available to all children who need its services. Our circle is blessed with a group of 30 women who are dedicated to CHKD, and who are eager to give their time, experience, knowledge, and compassion to help make our projects successful.
