In 2018 we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the North Downs Way National Trail. This fantastic trail offers walkers 153 miles (246 Km) of spectacular scenery, picturesque villages and glorious rolling countryside, passing through the Surrey Hills and the Kent Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The North Downs Way is largely based on the Pilgrims Way from Winchester to St Thomas Beckett's shrine in Canterbury. The route is full of pilgrim history from road names, pilgrim churches and ancient sunken lanes worn down by centuries of pilgrims past and present.
