Hernán “Nan” Joubá (b. Hernán Jourdan, 1987) is an Argentinean-born director of artistic projects and cultural producer. Trained in theater in Buenos Aires and filmmaking at Tokyo Visual Arts, he has undertaken projects for the stage, film and television –collaborating as a performer, writer, producer and director.Over the last decade, Nan Joubá’s practice emerged in public and private spaces, intervening museum galleries, abandoned buildings, and rural landscapes. Today, he maintains an interdisciplinary practice centering theater, video and writing traditions for collective transformation.Among other honors, Hernán is a MacColl Johnson Fellow in Creative Writing; a National Arts Strategies Fellow (Creative Community New England); a previous writer-in-residency at Studios at MassMoCA and Cité Internationale des Arts; a grantee of NEFA, DESIGNxRI, the Rhode Island Council on the Humanities, and a scholarship recipient from the Japanese Ministry of Culture and Education (MEXT).
