About MSU College of Law

Michigan State University College of Law enrolls over 600 students globally and employs 47 distinguished full-time faculty members, who have collectively authored 22 books and nearly 100 articles in top law journals. Additionally, 85 adjunct faculty, many of whom are MSU Law alumni, bring real-world experience to the classroom.Notable alumni include Michigan’s Governor, the Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, and former Detroit mayors. MSU Law supports first-year students with smaller class sizes and close faculty engagement. Second- and third-year students choose from 140 electives and can engage in interdisciplinary studies across MSU’s 17 colleges.Students gain practical experience through eight law clinics and nine centers and institutes, including the Moot Court Program and the Indigenous Law and Policy Center. The College’s location in Lansing offers externship opportunities in all branches of state government.Founded as the Detroit College of Law in 1891, MSU Law became a constituent college of Michigan State University in 2020.
