Follow Milton Lau/Ki-ho'alu Foudation, Inc.The Ki-ho'alu Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Educational Organization whose sole mission is to promote, preserve, and perpetuate Hawaii's 184 year old indigenous guitar art form known around the world as Ki-ho'alu (Slack Key Guitar). Through the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festivals which began in 1982 on the island of O'ahu, the festival has grown now to include 6 festivals in Hawaii (3 on the island of O'ahu, 1 on Maui, 1 on the island of Hawaii and one on the island of Kauai). Also the festival is also done in the state of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, New York, Virginia and Maryland. In addition, the festival has expanded overseas to Japan and now to Europe in 2014. All members of the Board of Directors including the president and ceo of the foundation, serve on a gratis basis and are not compensated in any way. This year we will be celebrating 32 years of the festival and still growing around the world.
