Follow Middle Sibling ProductionsMiddle Sibling Productions started with our realization that most productions are the same 20-30 plays on a constant loop. While there are many new works being developed, they end up being forgotten after a few years in favor of the accepted canon. We wanted to find a way to present all of these forgotten plays in a way that also included our community at every step of the way.To do this, we began to host free public unrehearsed readings called Meetup Readings, with our members doing the acting. With every member reading a new play, they are participating both as the actors and the audience. Our first reading was in July of 2022 on a few blankets in Central Park, with only four people reading. Since then, we have moved to midtown Manhattan, where our readings now attract over a dozen enthusiastic regulars from the almost 800 members that make up our group. Over the past three years we have garnered over 300 five star reviews from our members. We have continued to grow and sustain our community, and further develop our programming. At this moment we are one of the only, one of the longest running, and one of the largest, public play reading groups across the entire city. The group is run by Artistic Director Austin Carlson, and helped by our team of volunteers and advisors. All of our volunteers and advisors are passionate members of our group, and we could not function at nearly the same level without their help. From proposing new plays, to donating both time and funds for new projects, and even offering up their own homes for potential rehearsal spaces, our community is the strongest part of our company. As we enter our fourth year, with our community thriving, we are focusing on building up our most involved programming to date, a series of Rehearsed Readings.
