Follow Michael NevinMichael Nevin is a professional economist who graduated with a first class honours degree in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of Oxford and gained a Masters degree in economics and econometrics from the University of Manchester. His varied international career has included terms as an economist with the Government of St Lucia, an investment analyst with the Commonwealth Development Corporation, a loan officer with the European Investment Bank, and Financial and Economic Manager of the London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC). After LDDC, he worked with Touche Ross & Co / Deloitte & Touche as a management consultant in the City of London before setting up his own practice, Caledonian Economics Ltd, selling his majority interest in 2007 to realise a 72% internal rate return for the founding shareholders. Since then, he has advised a range of clients internationally, recently serving as senior adviser to the Africa Investment Forum. His books include 'The Age of Illusions: the Political Economy of Britain, 1968-1982 ' (1983), 'The Golden Giunea: The Intewrnational Financial Crisis 2007-2014 - Causes, Consequences and Cures' (2012) and 'Edward Nevin: An Impression of his Life, Times and Legacy' (2024). He currently edits a quartely subscription newsletter, 'The African Investor'.
