Lacis, the retail store, was conceived and founded by Kaethe Kliot in 1965 as a haven and resource for the textile community. After her untimely passing, Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles was established to share and sustain Kaethe and Jules Kliot's extensive collection of of lace, textile, costumes, books and tools of the textile trade. The retail stores now supports the Museum functions.
