La Monstressa is a self-taught, semi-anonymous Latina artist based in the Pacific Northwest. Her creature sculptures take technical and artistic cues from myriad sources--from classic monsters of cinema (think the Stan Winston Studio velociraptors of Jurassic Park) and the playful Oaxacan dream-creatues known as alebrijes to encounters with wondrously strange real-life fauna and flora around the world.
