It might mean Mountain of Light, Mountain of Greatness or Mountain of Caravans. Or it might not. The local people, the Wachagga, don’t even have a name for the whole massif, only Kipoo (now known as Kibo) for the familiar snowy peak that stands imperious, overseer of the continent, the summit of Africa. Kilimanjaro, by any name, is a metaphor for the compelling beauty of East Africa. When you see it, you understand why. Not only is this the highest peak on the African continent; it is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, rising in breathtaking isolation from the surrounding coastal scrubland – elevation around 900 metres – to an imperious 5,895 metres (19,336 feet). Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s most accessible high summits, a beacon for visitors from around the world. Our Tanzania Camping Safaris We outfit camping safaris both in and outside of the National Park boundaries. Outside of park boundaries we are able to offer nature walks or hikes, and night game drives, with accommodation in a private camp, or in lodges or permanent tented camps. Our camping safaris are not “luxury camps”, though we have a wide size-range of comfortable & modern tents, camp beds and mattresses, tables & chairs and mess tents for meals. Our cooks prepare scrumptious bush meals, and we can provide toilets, showers, and all the necessities for a comfortable bush experience. Our camps can be mobilized each day, and set up in private or public campsites, as per your preference and budget. Our itineraries are customized to best suit the individual’s wishes, expectations, and budget. Tanzania Lodge Safaris Tanzania Lodge safari Packages are Safari itineraries which are Comfort Safari packages commonly known as Tanzania Mid-range Safaris or Tanzania Standard Safaris aimed at affordability and comfortability for the discerning traveler who wishes to experience Eastern Africa’s wilderness in comfort and ease. During the day, you will be out in the bush exploring the wilderness of Tanzania and in the evenings, you will enjoy all the amenities your lodge or tented camp has to offer. Tanzania has beautiful and diverse lodges and tented camps. We love to use tented camps in our itineraries, but we realize that some people prefer lodges. Tented camps really give you the feeling of being in the bush and close to nature which is something we try to achieve with us. Luxury tented camps are extremely well-appointed and have all the comforts you’d want such as double beds and en-suite bathrooms. Showering in camps is done with a so-called bucket shower – staffs prepare hot water in the morning and this is used for showering and washing. Where possible we love to get you away from the crowd. We pick places with friendly staff and make sure they are in great locations. We can use any lodge you want in Tanzania. We have some preferred partners we tend to work with time and time again, but we will use the appropriate accommodation for your budget and desired itinerary.
